Modern theory of metals has not yet attained a level of development such that previous calculation of the composition of an alloy with given properties is possible. The choice of materials for the new technology has to be made experimentally by taking into account already known relationships in the variation of the mechanical, electrical, and physicochemical properties of metal alloys as a function of the variation in their composition, structure, temperature, system of active forces, rate of strain, action of corrosive media, penetrating radiations, and so forth (see Chapter III).
