Microbial-induced mineralization technique can be used to repair the concrete surface defects and cracks. Recent development on the repair mechanisms, passive repair and self-healing was reviewed. The advantages of passive repair or active self-healing were analyzed. Some problems and the corresponding solutions were proposed. The studies on further development and application of this technology were suggested.
