When cloning genes to express them in target organisms, care must be taken in deploying the arsenal of genetic engineering tools to allow thein vitroprocedures to work correctly, such as finding which restriction enzymes can be used to create substrings and 'sticky ends' at only the desired locations. When cloning into bacteria, deciding on the right plasmid to be used to transfer new biocircuits into the host can also be challenging in order to avoid undesired interactions. While progress in Bioinformatics has resulted in huge databases of cloning sequences and plasmids, matching these to specific experimental settings is laborious and error-prone. Here we present easy to use software tools that consult standard and personalized databases in order to find the correct choices of biological vectors and tools for the wet-lab worker.
