Materials and MethodsMaterials Elastase (porcine pancreatic, twice crystallized) was obtained from Worthington Biochemical Corporation (Freehold, NJ). Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium was obtained from GIBCO (Grand Island, NY). Rat immunoglobulin G, protein A-agarose, phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride, leupeptin, Tweerr" 20, rat liver acetone powder, and Freund's complete and incomplete adjuvants were obtained from the Sigma Chemical Co.(St. Louis, MO). Octyl-So-glucopyranoside was obtained from Calbiochem Corporation (San Diego, CA). Silica in the form of Berkeley Min-U-Sil (particle size< 5 I-tm) was obtained from the Pennsylvania Glass Sand Corporation (Pittsburgh, PA).(3sS] Translabel (containing 70%(3sS] methionine and 15%(3sS] cysteine) was obtained from ICN Radiochemicals (Irvine, CA).
