Adolescents’ attitudes towards foreigners and perceived attitudes in the social context The study focuses on adolescents’ attitudes towards foreigners and corresponding attitudes among their parents, friends, and teachers as perceived from the adolescent perspective. Analyses of cross-sectional data from 859 students attending 6, 8, and 10 grade yielded correlations well beyond those reported in earlier research where adolescent attitudes and the factual attitudes in the social context were considered. Age-graded variations in the strength of associations are suggestive of the workings of projective processes in the service of a confirmation of own attitudes.
