ConclusionBoth, T–cell activation and IgE production play an important role in the immunopathogenesis of AD. Bacterial superantigens have been identified as potent proteins that interact with both of these events. They trigger local T–cell accumulation and IgE production against superantigens. Thus, superantigens are considered important immune activators in AD.
