The structure and function of the eye are overviewed. This is followed by developing the basics of imaging of light with lenses, and these are used to show how sources are imaged onto the eye retina. Several optical characteristics of the eye and vision are discussed, including accommodation, visual acuity and depth of field, along with modes of imperfect vision and how to correct them with eyeglasses and contact lenses. The relation of the image formed on your retina to what you actually perceive is then analyzed in terms of its brightness and color.
