In this article, the author comments on the life cycle profile of the consumer price index (CPI) which was constructed at the household level and also discusses the heterogeneity in Japanese CPI. He discusses the empirical analysis in which the economists use nondurable expenditure which was deflated by an aggregate price index as consumption measurement. He also informs about the expansion of the discount use through online shopping.
