The article discusses the case of a novel ADAM10 mutation in a RAK family and presents an electron microscopic study of samples obtained from a genetically identified patient. A 54-year old Japanese woman was presented for hyperpigmentation on acral areas since puberty. Electron microscopy revealed an increased number of melanosomes in the cytoplasm of keratinocytes (K) in the area of thea hyperpigmented macules which formed melanosome complexes.
