A case of hæmoglobinuria after karate exercises involving considerable trauma to the hands is described, the hæmoglobinuria being prevented by the use of a sponge-rubber cushion. After investigation, which included the performance of the exercises under laboratory supervision, the hæmoglobinuria was diagnosed as being a variant of march hæmoglobinuria.
