Long studied as modulators of insulin sensitivity, adipose tissue immune cells have recently been implicated in regulating fat mass and weight gain. In this issue ofImmunity, Reisner and colleagues (2015) report that ablation of perforin-expressing dendritic cells induces T cell expansion, worsening autoimmunity and surprisingly increasing adiposity.
