Field research conducted by female researchers in policy settings requires special attention to access, entree, reciprocity, and ethics. The author proposes ways to manage role, entree and access, data gathering, reciprocity, ethics, and reporting in policy settings, issues that must be managed differently at different stages in the research. The author also raises the issue of male-female dynamics in field research, suggesting appropriate roles for female researchers in policy settings.
