Pseudobrookite-type ceramics have relatively low bulk thermal expansion among oxides and are expected to be a new family of functional materials. MgFeNbO 5 and MgFeTaO 5, Fe-containing pseudobrookite, were synthesized by a reactive sintering method. Solid-state reaction behavior was studied in detail by high-temperature X-ray diffraction (HT-XRD).
