The importance of a study of the ethnic awareness of future school-teachers is conditioned by tendencies in the change of their moral preferences. The system of moral values and orientations to them, and in fact the ethnic character as a whole, are changing, and this does not always have positive consequences for the social development of the Russian state. In their practical activities today's college students are not, by any means, guided by the imperatives of traditional Russian culture. For this reason, the problem of the content and the structure of college students' self-awareness can be viewed as a problem of geopolitics, one that makes it possible to answer the following questions: What does the future have in store for Russia? Will the Russian nation be preserved as an ethnocultural whole? It is in connection with this that the question of the current state of the Russian ethnos arises.
