A survey is given of the results obtained in an attempt to determine the degree of crystallinity of cellulose fibers from quantitative X-ray investigations. Figures are listed for various native and regenerated fibers and of products obtained from them upon mechanical desintegration, acid hydrolysis and mercerization.
