Pacific gyre is Earth’s largest oceanic desert. SeaWiFS satellite images reveal its consistently low [Chla](deep blue and purple). However, some nuances in the blue color of these waters can be detected (1). Only 20% of available measurements (white symbols) for ocean color algorithms development have been collected in the Southern Hemisphere (and less than 2% in the South Pacific between 0 and 60 S).
