Telford (Baart Harries Newall, 2000–2001). Schinkel? Otto Wagner? Mackintosh? Wright? Mies? Kahn? What have Baptists done to deserve this? Dawley is small; it seats 120. Wakeling describes two other small or smallish churches, Headington (David Grindley, 2006–2007, seating 200) and Clevedon (Acanthus Ferguson Mann, 2005–2006, seating 350). These are not illustrated but they are clearly worth the detour; and if Clevedon ‘might be taken for a place of entertainment... perhaps a cinema or library... ’ so much the better. What could be more true to the spirit of Nonconformity or Baptist witness and mission? This is a book for Baptists to beg, borrow, or buy. They owe it to their coffee tables, for what it contains is constantly changing and surprisingly precious.
