Chiral diborane(4) compounds, synthesised from B-2(NMe2)(4) and the relevant chiral diols, react with terminal alkenes in the presence of Pt(dba)(2) (dba = dibenzylidene acetone) affording 1,2-diboryl compounds which have diastereoselectivities up to 60% d.e.
