Hot-atom chemistry is a unique field of radiochemistry investigating either kinetically or electronically excited chemical species resulting from nuclear transformations. The importance of hot-atom chemistry lies not only in the elucidation of the fundamental mechanisms of chemical consequences associated with nuclear events, but also in its applications to various fields. The first of them may be energy-related researches, because the knowledge of hot-atom chemistry provides us with microscopic information about locally caused radiation damages in materials.
