In the European Land Use and Cover Area‐Frame Statistical Survey (LUCAS) the population is the European Union (EU), and the sampling frame is a representation of the EU in a Lambert azimuthal equal area projection. Stratified systematic sampling is carried out as an independent systematic sample in each stratum, but doing so reduces the advantages of systematic sampling when strata are spatially mixed with each other. Non‐sampling errors are generally more difficult to assess than sampling errors. The chapter discusses the possible order of magnitude of the main sources of non‐sampling errors. LUCAS is more focused on the application to agri‐environmental indicators than to traditional agricultural statistics.Controlled Vocabulary Termsnon‐probability sampling; non‐sampling errors
