Sub-atmospheric dielectric barrier discharge (SADBD) plasma was used for the reduction of gold trichloride to synthesize gold nanoparticles. By introducing poly vinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as a capping agent, the nanoparticle size has been controlled to be ~1.7nm in average with a narrow size distribution. These nanoparticles show enhanced activity and stability for electro-oxidation of methanol.
