Quantification of antiepileptic drugs and their metabolites in small volumes of biological fluids, serial determinations of the pharmacokinetic parameters of antiepileptic drugs over time, and comparison of the bioavailability of antiepileptic drug preparations have presented special problems in the pediatric age group. These problems can now be overcome by use of stable isotope techniques.
