Editor Ecthyma gangrenosum (EG) is a cutaneous infection classically caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa . It typically presents as single or multiple grey/black eschars with surrounding erythema or necrotic ulceration. The classic sites of involvement are the anogenital and axillary areas. Patients with EG are typically unwell with an associated immunocompromised state and in such cases EG is associated with a high mortality. 1
