Method A consisted of comparing meta and para substituted benzeneboronic acids3 with benzoic acids4 through their acid dissociation constants, using a plot of pK „for X-C6H4B (OH) 2 vs. Ham-mett’s values. It was thought that, if thetetrahedral form prdeominated, a curvature might be observed at negative values because of the presence of a resonance form,
