The present interest is to investigate continuousD-optimal designs for polynomial spline regression. Such a design is obtained in the special case of a quadratic spline with a single distinct knot. Two conjectures, concerning the number and position of the supports in aD-optimal design for the general case of spline-regression of arbitrary degree and multiplicities of the knots are given.
