The article discusses the heart complications of chronic dialysis including chronic kidney disease and dialysis-dependent end-stage renal disease which are 30 to 40% less likely to undergo coronary angiography or revascularization. It notes the underutilization of medical therapies including beta-blockers, renin-angiotensin axis blockers and statins in hemodialysis. It also discusses the role of percutaneous coronary revascularization and coronary artery bypass grafting in dialysis patients.
