[A new species, Bathygnathia japonica n. sp. is described and B. affinis Birstein, 1963 redescribed and figured. Bathygnathia japonica differs from its congeners primarily by having mandibles lacking internal and dorsal lobes, an indistinct article 1 of the pylopod, and a moderately large, subtriangular article 5 of the pylopod.
