Objective: To explore the effect of Gegen Qinlian decoction on microbial growth in simulated gastric and intestinal liquid. Methods: Gegen Qinlian decoction at a concentration of 1 g/mL was added into the simulated enteric juice, and the digestive juice were added appropriate amount of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Aerobacter, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus oryzae, Penicillium, and Debaryomyces hansenii for digestion at 37°C. At 0 h, 1 h, 2 h and 4 h respectively, 1 mL of the digestive juice was drawn for dilution plate counting. Results: Gegen Qinilian decoction had a strong inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Aerobacter aerogenes, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus oryzae and Penicillium, while the impact on Debaryomyces hansenii was first promotive then inhibitory. The inhibitory effect on the four fungi were the most significant when the reaction time was 2 hours. Gegen Qinlian decoction had certain inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Aspergillus niger, Penicillium, and Debaryomyces hansenii in simulated gastric juice, but had no obvious inhibitory effect on Aerobacter aeruginosa. Conclusion: Gegen Qinlien decoction has certain inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Aspergillus niger, Penicillium, and Debaryomyces hansenii in simulated gastric and intestinal fluids. It has obvious inhibitory effect on Aerobacter aerogenes in the simulated intestinal fluid, but no obvious inhibitory effect in the simulated gastric juice.
