Three dogs with experimental and two with naturalB. gibsoniinfections were treated either with a single s/c dose of phenamidine at 5 or 7'5 mg/lb body wt. or two doses of 7'5 mg/lb on consecutive days. The drug was effective in treating clinical infection, because all dogs showed a definite and continuous decrease in parasitaemia 72 hours or less after treatment, but complete elimination of the parasites was not obtained. The best dosage was 7'5 mg/lb (16 mg/kg) on consecutive days.
