The use of remote sensing techniques in the study of biology is discussed. Many of the factors which relate to the distribution of zoonoses can be measured remotely. The author is currently attempting to determine how accurately the prevalence of hookworm in a rural Central American community can be predicted from a study of edaphic and topographical factors as revealed by aerial photography. It should also be possible to estimate the distribution of vectors such asSimuliumby remote sensing techniques. P.S.G.
