A vaccine remains the most promising option to eradicate HCV. In this issue ofImmunity, Weber et al. identified HCV elite neutralizers, isolated exceptionally potent and broad VH1-69 CD81-binding site neutralizing antibodies that used a shared mode of antigen recognition, and developed a computational approach that predicted mutations relevant to gain-of-function for this bnAb class, which can inform immunogen designs.
