The British Pimplinae are revised, and illustrated keys are provided for their identification. For each species details of known distribution and biology in Britain are summarised. This treatment is supplemented by a checklist, notes on techniques and the systematics of Pimplinae, and a general review of the biology of the subfamily. One new genus and 2 new species are described and there are taxonomic and nomenclatural changes which affect a further 18 species. Endromopoda, previously a subgenus of Scambus, is treated as a genus; new combinations include E. detrita comb. nov. and E. nigricoxis comb. nov. (which were synonymized previously). Pimpla instigator is synonymized with P. hypochondriaca.
