The antagonism between analgesic antipyretic drugs and bradykinin was examined quant. using the bronchoconstrictor response of guinea-pigs in vivo. 50 times the quantity of acetylsalicylate which just antagonised bradykinin did not modify the constriction due to small doses of histamine, 5HT, or ACh. Phenylbutazone, amidopyrine, and phenazone also had high anti-bradykinin potency but aspirin, amidopyrine and phenylbutazone did not sp. antagonise the action of bradykinin on capillaries of the guinea-pig skin in vivo, on the guinea-pig ileum, or on the rat duodenum in vitro. The antibradykinin potencies of other antipyretic analgesic or anti-inflammatory drugs are reported.
