Multipoint hydrogen bonding plays an essential role for the selectivities in biological systems. We have recently reported on the selective sugar bindingwith resorcinol-aldehyde cyclotetramer l; 3 4a striking feature of 1 is that it is a multidentate host having four independent binding sites (A, B, C, and D). We wish to report here that 1 in fact allows a two-point hydrogen-bonding fixation of dicarboxylic acids in a remarkably selective manner. 4-7
