This task becomes difficult if the sound areas are so strongly structured that damage induced changes can barely be detected on this background. Desirable are methods of nondestructive testing that display exclusively damaged areas while they ignore the undamaged ones: the suppression of non-relevant information allows to confine the inspection to the areas of interest, thereby allowing for a fast and reliable identification of damage. Our contribution deals with such methods. The basic principles and examples of applications are presented.
