The author concludes: " Our ongoing study clearly establishes that, by close clinical, functional and morphologic inspection, in the majority of subjects, especially adults, irreversible glomerular damage follows sporadic acute poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis. The better prognosis in children and in epidemic cases is unexplained, but it may reflect the occurrence and detection of milder disease at onset. ...
