The owners of 52 dogs in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, were questioned about their dogs behaviour in a study into the role that dogs may play in the transmission ofToxoplasma gondii. Of 52 dogs, 44.2% ate cat faeces and 55.7% ate any faeces; 23% of dogs rolled in cat faeces and 48% rolled in a number of foul substances. The consequences of this behaviour on the transmission ofT. gondiiare discussed.
