Although numerous spray reagents are available for revealing glycoconjugates on thin-layer chromatography (TLC) 2 plates, few are able to reveal all types of monosaccharides found in glycoconjugates. For example, two of the most commonly used spray reagents for revealing glycoconjugates on TLC plates are the orcinol–H2SO4 reagent (Orcinol)(1, 2) for neutral sugarcontaining glycoconjugates and the resorcinol–HCl reagent (Resorcinol)(3) for sialic acid-containing1 To whom correspondence should be addressed.
