In this paper we study the local and global behavior of positive solutions of nonlinear elliptic equations on R", n> 2, and, more generally, on n-dimensional Riemannian manifolds. More specifically, we investigate the behavior of positive solutions near an isolated singularity, and derive some global results of Liouville type.
