SINCE the advent of the era of microsurgery, recognition of the middle ear vascular architecture has been facilitated. Kelemen in 1958 recorded a case with bilateral persistence of stapedial arteries, and stated that twelve cases had been previously reported. He then thought that a decade would elapse before another example was added to the list. Although during the past 3 years, four cases have been documented in the literature, and many more must have been seen in clinical practice, there are still very few adult temporal bones available with this anomaly.
