Raman spectroscopic studies of a few Japanese art objects have been performed by using a portable Raman spectrometer constructed with liquid crystal tunable filters as dispersive elements. Interesting information has been obtained from the Raman spectra observed from ukiyo-e's (Japanese woodblock prints) and their woodblocks.
