timely and sophisticated contribution to intra-left debates about class, race, and US capitalism. This book is not, however, the best entry-point into Roediger’s work: the essays collected assume familiarity with Marxism, critical whiteness studies, and aspects of the Black radical tradition. Yet, rather than being a weakness, this is one of the strengths of the book, offering scholars concise historical-theoretical arguments to make sense of the morass of positions on class and race in the US.
