The stereochemical course of the intramolecular allylsilane‐aldehyde condensation of1ahas been investigated. A modest preference for the product arising from a synclinal orientation of double bonds was observed withLewis‐acid catalysts. Cyclization induced by fluoride ion resulted in stereochemical reversal.
