Expanding the utilization of CO2to reduce its emission is an urgent issue. Therefore, it is very attractive to utilize CO2as a raw material for chemical reactions. Recently, the development of catalysts that convert CO2+ H2into C1 compounds, such as formic acid and methanol, has been actively researched. Moreover, hydrogen is expected to become a major energy carrier in the relatively near future. However, the so‐called shift to a hydrogen economy currently lacks the ability to store hydrogen in a safe manner. Therefore, formic acid and methanol produced from CO2hydrogenation have received renewed attention as a hydrogen storage system. This chapter presents the research progress in catalytic hydrogen generation from these liquid‐phase hydrogen storage materials.
