Aconference authorized by the Permanent Commission and International Association on Occupational Health met in Amsterdam in November of 1968, as one of a series of similar meetings of special groups under this same sponsorship, to engage in the presentation of prepared papers, and in discussions of standards for the maintenance of satisfactory environmental conditions, and for the medical and hygienic supervision of workmen for the preservation of their safety, health, and well-being while employed in establishments engaged in the production and use of lead and its inorganic compounds.There being no official publication issued by this international professional organization, in which the proceedings of such a conference could be given extensive presentation, an attempt has been made to provide an account of the program and purposes of the conference and to publish such of the previously unpublished papers there presented, as would best represent the data and the conclusions of their authors, while providing illustrative material for the consideration of the group in their discussions of this matter. 1· 4 The selection of papers for publication was made in accordance with the policies of the ARCHIVES and through the efforts of an American participant in the conference (RAK), who was invited by
