Method A: A mixture of 200-400 pmol each of I and 2 and 200-300 pmol of CuBr, in 60 mL of acetonitrile was electrolyzed galvanostatically in a threecompartment cell with Pt wire at 30-50 pA for 4-5 days at room temperature. The crystals that were filtered off were washed with acetonitrile and dried.Method B: As described in Ref. Ill] a freshly polished copper wire was immersed in a solution of 100 pmol each of 1 and 2 and 150 pmol of CuBr, in 25 mL of acetonitrile. After 3-4 days the crystals that separated (40-90%) were filtered off, washed with acetonitrile, and dried.
