A gauge model of generation nonuniversality proposed 10 years ago predicted that the {tau} lifetime should be longer than what it would be in the standard model. This has been confirmed by recent {ital e}{sup +}{ital e{minus}} to {ital Z} data, although the statistical significance is only 2.3{sigma}. We show that this model is also consistent with other precision electroweak measurements, and in particular it contributes {ital negatively} to the {rho} parameter measured at the {ital Z} peak.
