RESULTSIn the control animals, the tracer was not observed in the perivascular or parenclıyınatous cxtracellular spaces. It was, for the most part, confincd toFt. 1. An unstinctl section of a blood vesscl in tlıc lumbar spinal cord of a rat subjccted to EAE. The perivascular space and the lumcn (L) are permeated with dense peroxidase reaction product. Pinocytotic vesicles, filled with peroxidase, may be seen at the luminal (snall arrow) and basal (large arrows) surfaces. In addition, larger peroxidasc-filled vicuoles: are visiblo witliin the endotlhelial cell; X 70,000. Ttt. 2. An utnstained section of an area similar to that illustrated in Figure 1. The lumen (L) and the perivascular space contain dense reaction product. In addition, large pcroxidasefillod structures may le seen in the endotihelial cclls; X 20,000.
