These notes and observations on the speech conditions in fifty mongolian children were made during the last two years at the Service for Mentally Deficient Children of the Mercedes Hospital and Binet Institute, Havana, Cuba. We do not wish to discuss any of the wellknown dyslalic disturbances observed in these cases. These are manifold as far as performance and localisation are concerned and they are sufficiently wellknown. The lack of satisfactory oral development, as well as the hoarseness due to the edema caused by thyroid insufficiency etc., are already well studied. We want to emphasize here the question of the symptomatology of apparent stammering in mongolian children, because we think that it is a relatively new field which can he of importance in determining the nature of stammering in general.
