Helium, unlike any other substance, has two known liquid phases. Helium II, the phase which occurs at temperatures below approximately 2.17°K, has many unusual properties which have resulted in its being referred to as a superfluid. The heat-transfer characteristics of this phase have been examined by many investigators [1–4].
